Morneau Shepell is the result of the fusion of a number of predecessor organizations, coupled with the ongoing development and growth of the resulting organization.
W.F. Morneau & Associates was established in 1966 as a benefits consulting and administration firm. It undertook an expansion into the United States in 1987 to provide employee benefit plan management services to U.S. employers.
In 1997 W.F. Morneau & Associates combined with the Sobeco organization, which at the time was part of Ernst & Young. Sobeco was founded in 1962 and, among its early assignments, was involved in the design and establishment of the Québec Pension Plan.
In 2008 Morneau Sobeco acquired Shepell.fgi, Canada's largest provider of employee health and productivity services. The combined organization is equipped to offer a more comprehensive list of services for meeting the human resources needs of clients.
